self-sovereignty is underrated

self-sovereignty is the idea that we are able to be in control of our selves.

in the current system of social media, this is not true. Instead, we operate within the walled gardens of other platforms.

If the platform makes a change to how they operate, we as the users have no control. We have no say.

This uncertainty produces what is called platform risk, the risk of building on another platform.

By building my own website, using custom markdown files, I can remove platform risk and create a place that is fully within my own control.
